After a lot of comparisons we have eventually bought our caravan porch awning. We wanted one that wasn't too big that it was as difficult to erect, but was big enough for our requirements. These requirements were basically enough space for the two of us to comfortable take off our wet walking clothes without having to a) do it one at a time and b) bumping into each other. I think we got the space we needed and even a little more for the dog, but he never gets in when wet, wouldn't like to think about the mess when he shook himself inside the porch awning.
The down side to getting such a large porch awning was the extra weight but even at 10 kg is still a lot lighter than our full awning.
